Case Manager - Memphis, TN
Advocates for Immigrant Rights is seeking someone to fill the position of Case Manager for our Memphis office. We need someone who is fluent in both English and Spanish, organized, self-driven and motivated with the ability to identify solutions to issues as they arise.
This is a full-time position, to start immediately, with opportunity for growth within the organization. The Case Manager will provide administrative support for the administrative and legal work of Advocates for Immigrant Rights.
Purpose of Role: To support Attorney/Legal Rep client representation, facilitate communication between clients and Attorney/Legal Rep, and ensue that necessary information and documents are gathered and prepared in the advancement of case work.
Duties include:
• Conduct intakes with potential clients
• Conduct new client orientation
• Answer client calls/texts sent to Attorney
• Handle client billing
o Create invoices
o Collect payments
• Schedule Appointments when needed
• Interface with clients to relay legal information as directed by attorney
• Provide resources to clients with particular needs
• Draft and send client correspondence
• Interpret for Attorney or schedule interpretation in another language if necessary
• Support Attorney in the following areas:
o Fill out forms
o Draft statements
o Respond to Requests for Evidence
• When drafting forms and legal documents for attorney approval contact clients to:
o Collect evidence
o Clarify information
o Review documents for signature with clients
o Accept Payments
o Take fingerprints
• Draft simple cover letters
• Submit Background Checks
• Present final applications to attorney/case handler for review
• Ensure applications are posted when directed
• Follow up with clients regarding Notices received in the mail
• Cover for other Case Managers in their absence or when things are slow
• File documents in the filing cabinet when necessary
• Participate in Staff Meetings
• Community Outreach
• Other duties as they arise
Must have reliable transportation. Must have at least a High School Diploma or GED and at least 4 years of work experience OR a college degree. Required skills include fluency in both English and Spanish, basic proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word and Excel), Google Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Prior experience in the immigration field is highly preferred.
Hourly wage from $19.00 to $21.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
